What an awesome meeting!
Last night was awesome! We had a great turnout and everyone seemed to have a great time!
Most of us brought our kids - we always meet in a kid-friendly place, so the kids can play in the play area while the moms chat - so we fed the kids and then let them go play. We believe that kids and business can be done together! That is one of the reasons we work from home in the first place, so why should we have to hire a sitter for a business meeting?
Bethany handed out mini catalogs, flyers about her specials and also showed us the incredible handmade cards, treat tins, and other projects she has done with Stampin' Up!. The projects were beautiful. Everyone ooooohed and aaaaahed! She told us that she can teach anyone how to do the same things at her workshops. I was impressed. :o)
Desiree passed out her menus for her catering biz. All I can say is, "YUM!" Nine types of wings, cheesy sausage balls, seven types of pasta, eight different main courses - and dessert, of course - my mouth is watering just thinking about it....
Tammy had her info about Pampered Chef - I love the Dots Dinnerware set - but they also have the cutest holiday plates! Love it!
Hilda had her Mary Kay info - I think the Glistening Winterberry (body wash, body mist, body butter) set is awesome. The MK holiday sets are always really cool....
Becky is with a company that has pure, safe and beneficial skin care and passed her info around. Their holiday line is fantastic - Ginger Citrus body wash, sugar scrub and body butter. Mmmmmmmmmm.......
We had a great meeting! The moms and kids didn't want to leave, but we had to eventually. :o(

The true cost of working outside the home
Many women work outside of the home because they feel it is their only option - single moms in particular feel the pressure to work outside of the home, since they are often the only source of income for their family.
I used to be a single mom. For six years, I supported myself and my two children by working from home. On paper, I could have (perhaps) made more money by working a job outside of the home, but the difference would have been in how much I kept.
Consider the costs involved with working outside of the home:
1. Child care - This expense alone can eat up half of your paycheck.
2. Gas - No doubt that this is a hefty expense, too.
3. Car insurance - Did you know that your insurance can go down if you don't commute to work? Mine did.
4. Clothing - Pantyhose alone cost me a fortune. (I can't seem to wear hose for more than 2 minutes without running them. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!) Add to that all of the dressy clothes you need for office work, and it is a hefty sum.
5. Lunches, coffee, etc. - A few dollars here and there add up!
And let's not forget another cost - time. Time to commute. Time the kids stay in daycare. Time you can never get back.

We take the precaution of keeping our tank full so that if a crisis hits, we are not panicking. We can wait it out for a while. I know I can sit at my computer and make money!
